GEARS OF WAR 3, BY EPIC GAMES, EXCLUSIVELY ON XBOX 360
[The Unveiling]
Gears of War 3 has been officially announced by Epic Games, the developers behind Gears of War 1 & 2 a well as the "Unreal Tournament" series. This game was suppose to be announced world wide on a television show, but was canceled due to re-scheduling. Someone on XBox knew of it and was set to announce the title that same day, but missing the cancellation, they revealed this too early and everyone knew off hand.
I first knew about 2 or so days prior to this, because they were talking about images from Gears of War 2, to 3 that my sister had found on a website, and released the date a coming as early as April 2011. Also, it was said in a Game Informer magazine (I'm subscribed) that they said we might see something in April and that the game would be released the following year. The Epic Games person they were interviewed just laughed at that, but it turns out that it was completely true.
This trailer, known as "Ashes to Ashes" was released.

[Back Story]
Gears of War is a story that takes place on "Sera". Were people were fighting over a new energy called "Emulsion". They fight each other long and hard and attempt to get the upper hand, creating a weapon of mass destruction known as the "Hammer of Dawn" in the Process (This information is only understood if you read the Book, "Gears of War: Aspho Fields".
The Main story follows Delta Squad, who's leader is Marcus Fenix. A celebrated Hero of Aspho Fields that was imprisoned due to abandoning his men and post in order to search for his Father, Adam Fenix, who was reported missing. In Gears of War 1, Dominic Santiago, the brother of Marcus' best friend, Carlos Santiago (Died at Aspho Fields) busts him out of jail and he re-enlists in the C.O.G. (Coalition of Gears) Army, much to the dissatisfaction of Hoffman (The officier who convicted him of negligence in a military environment). After Kim is killed off by the Locust General known as Raam, Marcus assumes leadership over Delta Company.
[Gear of War 1]
To Sum up the Story for Gears of War 1. They are out to plant a resignator in order to map the locust tunnels, only finding out that it's only one part of a huge network that goes through the entire world. Eventually, they find out, in Marcus old mansion home, that his father has a greater understanding of the networks by his research data. They eventually plant a light mass bomb inside of the Locust Tunnel via a Train after you fight General Raam. Seemingly the end of the Locust.
[Gears of War 2]
After you've finished Gears of War 1, this story picks right up after it. You start off in a Hospital and begin training Benjamin Carmine (His Brother, Anthony Carmine, Died in Gears of War 1 by being headshotted by a Sniper Locust). Later off, Benjamin Carmines dies as well, with us believing that Gears of War 3 will have their third brother (Clay Carmine) dying in a fashion similar to his brothers.
It goes off with them figuring that they needed to drive this fight to the locust, so they pile whomever they have left and go underground, with this, they begin to try and find the Locust "Queen" (Known as Queen Myra, who is actually part human), to kill her and put an end to the war. Upon all of this, Tai Calipso (A "islander" gear).Who is known for surviving anything, ends up committing shotgun suicide after being tortured by the Locust, a truly upsetting scene.
Even worse than this is the fact that since Gears of War 1, Dom has been asking around for his missing Wife, Maria, being his 2 kids died. Well, he finds Maria but she's a shell of who she once was and is suffering, and she eventually is killed off by Dom in a type of "mercy killing" knowing that it was the right thing to do to not let Maria suffer anymore. Afterwards, in a hidden chapter that is downloadable if you don't do Gunz Blzing, you sneak around in locust armor.
Well, eventually, you kill Raam and figure out that the locust are being fought against by the Lambent, glowing Locust as well, otherwise the humans would've died out a long time ago. You eventually find out that Marcus' father, and the Locust, were trying to sink Jacinto to destroy the Lambent and he locust. So it ends with them sinking their own city, the last refuge of humanity to try and kill off the Locust. And that's how it ends.
You can tell from the trailer that some of the rumors are true. There was suppose to be females Gears in #2, but no one seen that, but there is a female Gear now in Gears of War 3. Some people think it's the girl from the Gears of War Comics, other thinks it's Anya, others think it's someone completely new, we'll have to wait and see. There are somethings we can tell from this Trailer.
#1 - The Lambent and the Locust are still fighting each other, as this probably takes place several Years after Gears of War 1. Meaning the Locust survived, Hoffman is probably dead and Delta company will probably be the only humans left. Dom seems to be getting older, so does Marcus. Infact, at one point Dom seems as though he's about ready to die before Marcus saves him and the female Gear gives him a patchworked gun, maybe an early model of the Lancer.
#2 - The Female Gear. She's now confirmed. I know a LOT of women, I mean a LOT that play Gears of War. Including Dyna and Roxy from here, as well as my sister among others. It's about time they get at least one female, but multiple females would be nice.
#3 - The Lambent appear to be the dominant force here. Making the Locust scared as well as seemingly somewhat siding with the humans, but I really have no idea. In Gears 2, a Lambent jumped infront of Cole and took bullets, but was he jumping at him? No one really knows at this point.
At any rates, the release date is April 2011, and it's suppose to conclude the Gears of War Series. However, I believe it's not over because Carmine says, "I have 2 other brothers" in Gears of War 2. The first being Anthony, him being Benjamin. Of the other two, one is Clay, and the fourth we don't know. We're thinking that the 4th is going to be in Gears of War 4, but they may introduce both simultaneously, I don't know. At any rates. If you don't have an XBox but planning to get one, PICK UP this series. And if you already got it, you know the goodness is about to come.
