Hello, everyone, and welcome to an extra chapter of The Blog of Hiroko. I write now asking for help from you lovely ladies and gorgeous gentlemen. <3

Okay. For starters, you all know about college and applications and stuff - pooh, some of you are graduating, yes? Well, I need some advice.

As you all might know, I'm doing extremely well in school; on top of my class, high ACT, all that good stuff, and as such, I have many options as far as choosing a university goes.
The thing is, I want to go into Computer Science, but where is the problem. I have two options I'm considering. as of now:
1. attend a local university and go to a bigger one for my Master's, or
2. attend the big one until I get the Master's.

Based on the fact that family is close and I'll be going almost for free, choosing the first option seems like the better one, yes? Also consider this: Louisiana is not big about computer science, particularly not artificial intelligence. I'll probably be getting a better education at a bigger university. Also, my family's not exactly rich, so much of my financial aid will cover the costs of a big school.

So, what do y'all think I should do.

Well with the first option, it would probably be much cheaper and then you'd transfer to the larger at probably a portion of the cost, than just going straight to the larger one. The bigger one may be a better experience, but essentially you'll be learning the same things at either campus right? So, why not go for the cheaper one that's also closer to home?

I had to make the same decision as you actually, and I went for the cheaper one close to home. I've still yet to find anything I regret about it. Like I said you're still learning the same things. The bigger college may have more prestige because it's well known, that doesn't mean it absolutely HAS to be the better one though.

I say go to the cheaper one, then transfer. Thats what I'm doing.

My aunts were telling me that another bonus of staying close to home for a while lets you visit family easily, so that's probably another good reason.
That's funny, though, that y'all are doing the same thing as me. :D The "close" college (about 1.5 hours from my house) is also where some of my classmates are going, but I'm going straight for the Honors program to get away from them.
I'd like to try living by myself, too. Or even with a dorm roomate. You know.
